On 30 October, Simon Munkara, a member of the Jikilaruwu clan, filed proceedings and applied for an urgent injunction to prevent Santos commencing pipeline work on the Barossa gas project. The Tiwi Traditional Owner will argue Santos has not properly assessed submerged cultural heritage along the route of its Barossa export pipeline. On 15 January 2024, the judge dismissed the case.
